Improving data availability via an economic lease model in mobile-P2P networks

چکیده
This work proposes LEASE, a novel Mobile-P2P lease-based economic incentive model, in which data requestors need to pay the price (in virtual currency) of their requested data items to data-providers. In LEASE, data-providing mobile peers lease data items to other mobile peers in lieu of a lease payment. The main contributions of LEASE are three-fold. First, its lease model entices even those users, who have no data to provide, to host data items, thereby improving data availability and MP revenues. Second, its economic model discourages free-riding, which improves connectivity due to higher peer participation. Third, its Vickrey auction-based bidding mechanism for leasing items provides effective leasing incentives to peers for improving data availability. Our performance study shows that LEASE indeed improves query response times and data availability in Mobile-P2P networks.

LEASE: An Economic Approach to Leasing Data Items in Mobile-P2P Networks to Improve Data Availability
This work proposes LEASE, a novel Mobile-P2P lease-based economic incentive model, in which data requestors need to pay the price (in virtual currency) of their requested data items to data-providers. In LEASE, dataproviding mobile peers lease data items to free-riders, who do not have any data items to provide, in lieu of a lease payment. Thus, LEASE not only combats free-riding, but also enti...
متن کاملEcoRare: An Economic Incentive Scheme for Efficient Rare Data Accessibility in Mobile-P2P Networks
We propose EcoRare, a novel economic incentive scheme for improving the availability of rare data in Mobile-P2P networks. EcoRare combats free-riding and facilitates creation of multiple copies of rare data due to its novel selling mechanism. Experiments show that EcoRare indeed improves accessibility to rare data in Mobile-P2P networks.
متن کاملEcoRep: An Economic Model for efficient dynamic replication in Mobile-P2P networks
In mobile ad-hoc peer-to-peer (M-P2P) networks, frequent network partitioning leads to typically low data availability, thereby making data replication a necessity. This work proposes EcoRep, a novel economic model for dynamic replica allocation in M-P2P networks. EcoRep performs replica allocation based on a data item’s relative importance, which is quantified by the data item’s price in terms...
متن کاملEconomic incentive-based brokerage schemes for improving data availability in mobile-P2P networks
In mobile ad hoc peer-to-peer (M-P2P) networks, data availability is typically low due to rampant free-riding, frequent network partitioning and mobile resource constraints. This work proposes the E-Broker system for improving data availability in M-P2P networks. The main contributions of E-Broker are threefold. First, it proposes the EIB (Economic Incentive-based Brokerage) scheme, which incen...
متن کاملAn economic incentive model for encouraging peer collaboration in mobile-P2P networks with support for constraint queries
In mobile ad hoc peer-to-peer (M-P2P) networks, economic models become a necessity for enticing non-cooperative mobile peers to provide service. M-P2P users may issue queries with varying constraints on query response time, data quality of results and trustworthiness of the data source. Hence, we propose ConQuer, which is an economic incentive model for the efficient processing of constraint qu...
